Castleford v Warrington

Struggle to see why this is such a big price of I’m honest. Warrington have won both games these sides have met in this year and it’s not like either of these sides are the finished product. HFA is definitely worth something to Castleford here but we know it tends to reduce in handicap value for top of table clashes and their team looks reasonable but with Milner and Sene Lefao both out I worry their forward pack has too much aggression and too little composure especially with both Watts and Clark likely to play. Warrington certainly struggle with late game skills but at least Roberts is kicking goals now so they may have a slight gk edge.

Salford v Widnes

Well I thought Widnes were going to win last week. They’d been dreadful in Super League but with their new recruits I thought they’d have enough to ease past a London side that has been so poor on the road. I was wrong. Now Widnes haven’t won in their last 15 games, they haven’t won away all season and are yet to win in coach Francis Cummins’ 8 games in charge. Their fans booed them off the pitch last week and deservedly so. Charlie Gubb got injured and looks like he’ll be out for the 8s and as much credit as the media wants to give their young fb Ashall Bolt I don’t see I guy whose ever gonna make it in SL.

Salford conversely have looked phenomenal since getting Hastings on board and with Lui partnering him in the halves have the best halves combo of any team in the qualifiers maybe even in Super League. Evalds is back at fullback and they just look far too dynamic for a Widnes side whose confidence looks shot. Salford beat Qidnes by 14 points before either team made their new signings and Salford should win by even more here.
