Widnes Vikings v London Broncos
I couldn’t believe when this line opened the Vikings were only 6 point favourites. I get the Vikings have been poor recently and with London playing their home games on a 3G pitch they don’t have the same edge they have against other teams but still. London covered this margin in 2/7 away games to top 6 championship teams a standard that Widnes are convincingly better than. With the Vikings squad strengthening in recent weeks with additions like Finn, Hansen and Gubb I expect the Vikings to walk out comfortable if unconvincing winners. Last season the Vikings won this by 22 points at home in a very similar spot. I’m happy to believe these teams are slightly closer but not 12 points plus closer meaning the 3/1 here seems an obvious choice.
Hull KR v Salford Red Devils
I was surprised when I saw this handicap priced so close. Salford are a bit of an unknown quantity with Jackson Hasting’s tearing it up at home to Leeds on debut but their away record can’t be ignored. The Red Devils won once away in the past year and a half and lost by 30 away to KR the last time these teams met just 4 weeks ago. Hull KR have won 4 of their last 5 in total and 3 of their last 5 at home including wins over Wigan, Huddersfield and local rivals Hull FC.
