Blackpool are in a mess! Gary Bowyer the manager has walked out after one game and the fans are ready to either boycott the game Saturday or protest about the owners.

The conclusion of the ownership looks no closer to be resolved and it’s clear the fans had had enough.

The club are now without a training ground to call home, they’ve lost the spine of their team that did so well to finish 12th last season and the despised man at the top still owes £25m to the Latvian former director. They have lost the impressive loanees in Sean Longstaff and Viv Soloman-Otabor, Colin Daniel at left-back and the pace of Kyle Vassell up top.

The playing squad is struggling despite earning a 0-0 away to Wycombe last weekend. The impressive Tilt at CB was left out last weekend due to speculation that he will be moving to Ipswich leaving two loanee making their debut playing at centre back aged at 21 and 24 years old. This is on top of the other 6 debutants that played on Saturday. The team is not in the best place to be able to handle a hostile crowd and the uncertainty of the change of manager after 1 game.

The club, fans but possibility not the owners will be under no illusions that extra quality is needed in attack. Reinforcements were badly needed this week before the transfer window shuts, but with no manager now in place this seems unlikely. The loan window will be open, but the club only has one loan spot left to fill!

Blackpool weren’t really out played by Wycombe. They did lose the shot count 15-10 but both sides had 4 SOT, but keeper Howard made a number of decent saves to keep Blackpool in the game. However, I am expect Wycombe and Portsmouth the be occupying different ends of the table come May and therefore Saturday will be a tougher test.,

Portsmouth had a decent season last year which was built being strong in both boxes. Matt Clarke formed an excellent centre-back pairing with Jack Whatmough, whist the ever young Brett Pitman provided a goalscoring presence throughout, with the threat  out wide coming through Jamal Lowe, who scored the winner last weekend.

Pompey did lack pace in attack last season and they have gambled on Louis Dennis, brought in from Bromley. Its in midfield were they probably lack quality.

Saturday they managed to beat Luton 1-0 and although they found themselves under pressure for large part of the game, CB pairing of Jack Whatmough and Matt Clarke stood firm. They lost the shot count 6-10, but 50% of their attempts at goal were on target compared to just 20% of Lutons. There is definitely quality in the Pompey squad.

I believe with the hostile crowd, lack of manager and leadership, Pompey will be good enough to at least avoid defeat which will see us bank some profit.
