Yeovil vs Mansfield

Yeovil have a very small squad due to the financial constraints that the club operates under. This hasn’t been helped that they had two players sent off last weekend and both these players will be unavailable this Saturday. At the start of the week they had only 18 senior players in the squad!

Although they had the two men dismissed in the latter stages of the match but they still only managed to have possession for 38% of the time and registered just 2 SOT against what I believe to be an average Bury side.

Mansfield will be up in the top 7 come the end of the season. They are one of the big spenders with a decent size budget. They have two excellent strikers in Davies and Walker on loan from Forest, who scored last week on his debut. The have signed Khan from Yeovil over the summer and he started life at Mansfield with an excellent performance and two goals.

In their opening game vs Newport, who are no mugs in this league they cruised to a 3-0 win, registering 57% possession, 11 shots and 5 on target.

Should the game end as a draw we will get half our stake back. Looks a decent bet to me.

Huddersfield vs Chelsea

Huddersfield will get relegated this season. They were lucky to stay up last season and they havent added anyone to the squad that will change my mind that they are one of the worst, if not worst team in the league. They scored just 16 goals at home. Since the turn of the year they have scored in just 6 of their 16 matches. The 6 games they did score in was against Watford, Brighton, WBA, Huddersfield, West Ham and at Chelsea in the 1-1 draw where they secured they PL survival. They have the worst record in the PL since the 1st January.

Over the same period Chelsea managed to secure 25 points against the 13 of Huddersfield. Over the last 3 seasons Chelsea have played 18 away games to sides that finished in the bottom 6 and have won 14 of them losing just once. Chelsea secured 33 away points last season, Spurs and Utd managed just one more with  34, so very little to choice from between the 2nd, 3rd and 4th best away sides in the PL, Chelea went off at odds of 1.45 here last season and we can get 1.65 this time – Have Huddersfield improve that much?

I know they were not great last weekend but that was against a very good City side. Huddersfield aren’t anywhere as good as City and I feel that with players like Hazard (if he plays) , Morata, Pedro, Cesc, Jorginho amd Willian I feel that they will have too much here.

A win by one goal will see us get a 50% profit.

Wolves vs Everton

Yes, I know all the stats about promoted sides not winning their opening games in the PL, but this is Wolves and Everton has been in awful form in pre-season. I know we shouldn’t read too much into pre-season friendlies but since they won 22-0 they have drawn with Bury and Lille and then lost the next 4, even losing to Blackburn. I expect 37 year old Jagielka to play as Muir will have joined the club too late, he will partner Keane who since his switch from Burnley has gone backwards. I am not completely convinced by Silva the manager and I am not sure that they have a real plan and the club has seen a turnover of managers and therefore a constant change of playing style.

Wolves have a squad that doesn’t look out of place in the PL.  They have added players such as Traore, Jimenez, Moutinho, Patricio to add to Neves, Bontaini, Jota and Boly. This is a very decent Wolves team and the home crowd will be up for this game. For me Nunos is a better manager than Silva and I don’t see Wolves losing this.

If Wolves avoid defeat then we get a refund.

Arsenal vs Man City

City have the best squad in Europe. Even if they rest a few players following the world cup there could play the likes of Mendy, Stones, Walker, B Silva, Sane, Mahrez, Aguero, Jesus, Gundogan and Laporte. There squad is just quality, we haven’t even mentioned Kevin De Bruyne yet. I can’t see passed City winning the league again this year.

Over the last 15 games when Arsenal have faced top 6 sides at home they have won just 6 of them whereas last season City played 5 and won 4 of them vs top 6 away. City won 16 of their 19 away games last season and whilst Arsenal has the 2nd best home record they over achieved in terms of expected goals and points.

Arsenal are likely to be without Kolasinac, Monreal and Koscielny and whilst it’s a bit of an unknown with this Arsenal side, City started the season like a train last season and I expect them to do so again. These two sides faced each other 3 times last season and City scored 3 goals in each game and conceded just once.

The last few H2H have seen City go off at odds of 1.73, 1.57, 1.4, 1.83 – City are getting better as a side so even money to win looks good value.

Good luck,

James.
